One day, One workout & One rep at a time- Insight into the life of a ‘Fitness Fanatic.’

Hello everyone,

Welcome to revampyoself.com, a platform to bring out the best in you.

To kick off my first blog post on my newly launched site, I shall be talking about one of the things that has had biggest impact on my life,  yep it’s none other than Fitness, something that’s talked about a lot these days and rightly so, I believe.

As a kid growing up I was moderately active and involved in some sports.  However I was never enthusiastic about ‘fitness’  in particular.  It was always about enjoying the activity be it cricket,  table tennis or swimming.

My family and friends would vouch for the fact that fitness and me were world’s apart until 4.5 years back.  😉

Anyhow,  right after finishing my college and spending few years in Dubai I started realizing that I was growing in size, having practically no control over my food intake.  Yes,  one of those… 🙂

I would munch on anything and everything at any given point time eventually leading to a disaster where in I suffered months of addiction to McDonald’s, consuming 1 large MC meal every alternate day.

Now like every other person I had tried hard to lose weight earlier but it was always in words and never in action. As they rightly say- easier said than done 🙂
The thought was always there on my head but with no drive for the execution of the same.

At one point the drive fortunately came through.

What brought the change?  Why the execution took place?  What drove me eventually? What got me to breakthrough?

We tend to have a subconscious belief that change is difficult or it takes certain amount of time before one can change. Let’s examine this for a minute..

Think of any change that has happened in your life be it ‘quitting smoking’ or taking up something that you have always wanted to. Wasn’t it in a moment of mental shift that brought about the change? I. E.  An event that you experienced in the moment which brought about the change? Yes, it could have taken years for you to give up on something, but the real change took place in a ‘moment’.

This is the exact moment I went through at one point seeing myself growing massively in size in a short period of time,  not only affecting the way I looked but also impacting my energy levels throughout the day; which would also have affected my health down the line had I not taken a massive determined action to prevent it.

It was at that point I decided to do something about it immediately.  The change wasn’t easy especially due to the fact that the community I come from and the lifestyle around family and friends always resorted to ‘satisfying your taste buds first’ and not worrying too much about weight or ‘being fit’ as such.

Having managed to think differently for myself, the first step was to get myself to a health club followed by a clean healthy diet.

I won’t deny,  the activity of getting myself to the gym initially was extremely painful especially with my low energy levels (due to my excessive weight).  However,  day after day,  week after week,  month after month the execution went on…

Fortunately, with continuous rigorous activity at the gym I was seeing results which drove me to go harder. I would spend hr and a half at the gym 5 days a week burning off around 700-750 calories.

In addition, I also had to put a cap on the number of calories consumed per day. My diet consisted of 2-3 cups of green tea,  sandwiches, veggies, salads and cereals for around 6 months giving me a drop of 15 kgs/33lbs in 6 months.

At that point I could have stopped and maintained myself at the same weight (at least that’s what my family  and friends wanted me to do). However, deep down within I knew I have not reached my desired result,  which made me work harder at the gym and on my diet which allowing me to achieve a massive transformation with a drop of 26 kgs/57lbs in less than a year. (Shifting my size from XL to XS).

With all that hard work at the gym and amazing transformation , I was featured on the Social media platform of ‘Fitness First’ as an achiever and was asked to share my success story with the other respective members.

With this major achievement behind my back, I decided to go a notch higher and decided to participate in the Nike 10k Marathon held in Dubai in 2015, managing to complete my 10k in just 57 mins. Something I would have never imagined myself to do in this life at least.

From a guy who thought he could merely jog at a pace of 7.5 km per hour to running at a speed of 13-15 km per hour today,  this is a major achievement for me.

Not only this 57 pound drop has impacted my looks and  energy levels,  it has also done a world of good to my overall personality,  self esteem,  self pride and given me a sense of belief that anything and everything is possible if you can believe yourself to do so.

Today after 4.5 years into fitness,  working out and eating healthy (with few cheat meals at times 😉 )  has become a part of daily lifestyle. In fact, I cant imagine a week without at least 5 days of workout in it.

Being fit has allowed me to be very active throughout the day, shifted my thinking capacity and strengthened my mental toughness. The kind of energy it has brought upon me as a person is something I honestly can’t describe in words.

A big shout out to my family and friends for sticking around and believing in me in this special journey. If it weren’t for their strong support and encouragement, this ride would could have been a lot rough.

If I can,  so can you 🙂

Yes,  weight loss is possible, only if you think it is.

Hope this article and my transformation pictures added below create a strong impact & inspiration for all you people trying to lose weight & get fit at this point.

Hey Jai. You are an example of success and focus. You should start mentoring and coaching, so people who want to achieve the same can be led day on day
Congrats to you!! I have started working out too but just can’t keep it consistent, one week it’s 3 days and other it’s just 1 day. But getting inspired by your article will keep going
